The Engineering Place
Throughout my career, I have been fortunate to work on a wide variety of projects. From modest alterations and extensions to private homes, to major new buildings and refurbishment projects, alongside many excellent architects, consultants and contractors.
Here is a selection of projects that I completed during my time at Price & Myers, all of which I worked on from conception to completion.
Hollin House
with Tate + Co Architects
Refurbishment works and an extension to an Edwardian House in Royal Tunbridge Wells, with steel box frames used to form large openings to the existing masonry walls. The new extension is built to the side and rear of the house using structural timber throughout, with metal web timber floor joists. Screw piles support the new extension due to the proximity of existing trees.

Punchdrunk, One Cartridge Place
with Haworth Tompkins Architects
Structural advice and a temporary entrance pavilion for the theatre company, Punchdrunk. Two existing warehouses at Woolwich Arsenal have been assessed for use as part of the immersive theatre production, 'The Burnt City'. As the warehouses are listed, the entrance pavilion cannot be fixed to the existing fabric, so timber portal frames provide stability to the new structure. Furthermore, it is built onto an existing road running in between the two warehouses, supported by sandbag foundations, avoiding any excavations into the ground.

Chichester Festival Theatre
with Haworth Tompkins Architects
The £11m refurbishment and extension of the Grade II* listed Chichester Festival Theatre. Built in 1962 using prestressed concrete, the existing building has been upgraded and expanded with a new reinforced concrete structure to the rear. Large-scale concrete repairs have also been carried out to the external exposed aggregate surfaces following a phase of extensive trials and testing.

Twist
with Ackroyd & Harvey Artists
A 20 metre high sculpture at the Cabot Circus gateway in Bristol. The tower takes the form of a hyperboloid and supports a glazed solar panelled canopy, from which rises a four metre high vertical axis wind turbine. The artwork’s lighting is powered solely through solar and wind energy, and is clad with layered dark grey slates, carefully arranged to mirror the internal hyperboloid steel frame.
